Mahee Island Golf Club
|
Nestled in an area of outstanding natural beauty and surrounded by the waters of
Strangford Lough, Mahee Island Golf Club has attained a reputation for its stunning
scenery, the excellent condition of its course and the genuine warmth of its welcome.
Although just 30 minutes from Belfast; a trip to Mahee will place you in another
world away from the hustle and bustle of modern life. With 360 degree views stretching
as far as the eye can see the island is arguably one of the most spectacular settings
for golf in the UK.
Designed by Robert Rennick in 1929 the course measures 5882 yards. Although not
as long as modern parkland layouts it has stood the test of time for nearly 80 years
and is an excellent test for golfers of all abilities. With small, fast greens and
undulating manicured fairways, accuracy, finesse and course management are the skills
required if you wish to score well. So don’t be fooled at our prices, Mahee offers
a premium golfing experience without the premium cost.

Every hole at Mahee will provide the visitor with a different perspective on the
picturesque landscape. Standing on the 1st tee the whole of the lough stretches
out in front of you but beware, a drive leaking right can so easily end up on the
pebbled shore line. The par 3, 8th is probably Mahee’s signature hole. The tee is
located on one of the highest points of the course and provides panoramic views
of Mahee Bay, the forested parts of the island, Scrabo Tower in the distance and
the far shore of the lough. But keep your concentration as a precise shot is required
to hit the green which is heavily protected by bunkers.
Challenging as our course can be, we never loose sight of the fact that our members
and guests choose to play Mahee Island because of the superb scenic location and
relaxed atmosphere.

The game is, after all meant to be fun so we do all that we can to keep it that
way and as Mahee is 9 holes you get to see the scenery twice and better those 1st
9 scores; enjoy.
But don’t take our word for it, come down and see for yourself.
