Dear Members and Visitors
As I look forward to my Captain’s Year, I would like to invite members and potential members, to enjoy the experience with me, alongside our hard working 2015 Council.
Mahee Island is set in unique surroundings, which, even on a ‘Bad Golf Day’, are impossible not to enjoy.
I feel that my goal this year is to make Mahee as enjoyable and successful for as many members as possible and to make people feel part of our club. For anyone who doesn’t know me, I am the 3rd generation of my family to be a member of Mahee with two more generations already following. I feel honoured and privileged to be appointed Captain and would like to assure members that I thrive on the phrase “Actions speak louder than words”. At times we may feel that we are on a roller coaster but hopefully at the end we will have enjoyed the experience.
I would like to ask our members to support and help their club in any way they can. While enjoying your golf please try to respect the course and fellow golfers as Wilson, Alistair and Timothy do a fantastic job preparing the course for us. A little time spent replacing divots and repairing pitch marks would be very much appreciated.
Also I would like to encourage you to support our caterer Mark Spence, whether it be a cup of coffee or a meal, as you would not believe how an 8 foot putt grows to a 10 foot putt over a coffee in our clubhouse! Our Club Steward, Colin Macaw, and Jean do a wonderful job as ‘Front of House’ and hopefully they will continue to keep us on the straight and narrow. Whilst wishing all our teams every success, a bit of fun is also important, so please keep an eye on our notice board and join our teams either as a ‘seasoned Campaigner’ or the ‘New Kid on the Block’ ! everyone will get fair chances from our team captains. As a final word I would like to wish all our Members, visiting friends and societies a great year’s golf at Mahee.
