Message from the Captains
Dear Members and Visitors
As a member of Mahee Island Golf Club for over thirty years and having known and respected highly the many Captains during this time I consider it an absolute privilege to have being given the honour of Captain for 2016.
The support that I received across the Club while acting as Council member, Match & Handicap Convenor and Vice-Captain was a key factor in me accepting this role. It is reassuring to have the support of so many people to help me in what will no doubt bring many challenges. Thanks to all those who have wished me well.
In many ways it is an exciting time to be Captain at Mahee. Our inter-club teams were on top form in 2015 and are looking forward eagerly to the 2016 Season. I would ask those who have not played on the teams to put their names forward. I am sure they would enjoy the competition, camaraderie, and experience of playing other courses. The teams’ successes and our excellent golf course, which receives universal praise from opposing teams and visitors, have enhanced our reputation as a Club.
We all know that the game of golf is going through a difficult time; however, I am confident that Mahee, with a combined effort of Club officers and members, will continue to flourish. My main objectives for 2016 will be to sustain and increase our membership and to attract an increasing number of visitors. Members can play their part by bringing down friends, neighbours or relatives to Mahee to an open competition or just for a friendly game. The course suits players of all standards and visitors can be assured of a warm welcome, excellent value for money and the experience of playing one of the most picturesque and well maintained courses in Ireland.
To all I wish enjoyable golf for 2016.
Ladies of Mahee,
I consider it a great honour, privilege and responsibility to have been elected as Lady Captain for 2015.
I am absolutely delighted and would like to thank the Past Captains for giving me this opportunity. I look forward with enthusiasm to my time in office.
I hope that our members, friends and visitors experience the friendly and welcoming atmosphere that Mahee Island has to offer. New members are always welcome.
This beautiful picturesque course is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty surrounded by Strangford Lough and is kept in excellent condition by our greenkeepers.
In conclusion I would like to wish everyone members, friends and visitors alike a very enjoyable year, good health, good friendship, and the beautiful scenery of Mahee Island to enjoy.
